Professor Jay: Tanzania’s Hip Hop Legend

Tanzanian music has always impressed and lived up to the praise it earns from across the divide of Africa’s entertainment sector.

From the very traditional cord-based Taarab to the modern day American hip hop adaptation; it continues to be a useful source of entertainment to millions of people in and around the East African region.

Joseph Haule, otherwise known as Professor Jay, is one of the Tanzania’s biggest hip hop acts, if not the most popular in East and Central Africa.

In the last decade, Jay, widely referred to as “East and Central Africa’s finest”, has grown to become a force most hip hop acts in Tanzania look up to and respect.
